Merry Mischief Merry Mischief

Once upon a time there were two minstrels. One damsel fair of voice and full of spirit, and one dashing, strong (hey, odor isn't everything!) fellow who met through the fates and spun an acoustic act called "Merry Mischief"! (Which pretty much describes what we do....)

Rufus the Mud Beggar

Rufus

For over eight years, whether by himself, or as part of “The Great Unwashed,” Rufus has been entertaining faire patrons throughout New England and even Canada. Rufus will be wandering about the shire all day – throw some money in his bowl and he’ll play you a song. (Of course, if you don’t give him any money, he’ll probably play anyways – he’s not proud). Or, give him a hug for luck – it brings him luck anyways.

Myschyffe Managed

Myschyffe
Myschyffe Managed is a New Hampshire-based a capella group specializing in medieval and renaissance madrigals. This motley crew was formed by a small herd of "Ren Rats" with a tenuous grasp on reality who also love to sing. The members feel that a bit of authentic period music adds to the overall ambiance of the various renaissance faires gracing our locale, and our audiences seem to agree. Our material is drawn primarily from the madrigal masters of old from Italy, England, Spain, and France. Our goal is to recreate a small part of the musical past for the entertainment and appreciation of the public. We can, however, easily change from the serious music to the, shall we say, traditional songs of drunkenness and debauchery as sung by lords, wenches, and pirates the world over.

Diabolis in Musica

Diabolis in Musica

In the 6th century, Pope Gregory I outlawed certain musical harmonies. These harmonies he declared were "diabolis in musica," or "the devil's music." It was... the Rock & Roll of the Dark Ages! Inspired by these high-energy folk and dance tunes , Diabolis In Musica blends medieval melodies and instrumentation with modern and international flavors, resulting in a uniquely timeless sound. The group's repetoire is multi-cultural, drawing from ancient tunes from all countries in Europe and the middle east. We play a variety of authentic medieval instruments including rauschpfiefes, shawm, hurdy-gurdy, bagpipe and a dozen different hand-drums. Our boisterous sound is the sound of celebrations from centuries past. Come rock and roll with Diabolis in Musica. We're going to party like it's 1399!

Academy of Knightly Arts

Academy of Knightly Arts

The Academy of Knightly Arts is a collective of individuals in New England who are interested in Medieval Martial Arts, or Western Martial Arts (wma) as they are widely known. They are not only interested in recreating medieval combat from period treatis, modern translations and interpretations, but also applying it in free sparring which they feel is important in order to internalise the art.

They'll be holding a live steel contest in the center ring to determine which of the warriors is the master of medieval combat.

Kunstbruder

Kunstbruder

Kunstbruder, the Brotherhood of the Art, studies, trains and practices Medieval Combat. The Longsword is the key weapon of our study. The Brotherhood is also working to reconstruct the Medieval Sword and Shield tradition as well as other aspects such as Spear, Dagger and Grappling. Together these elements help to understand and recreate combat on the battlefield and in the list. Training prepares the student for one-on-one and melee combats. Please join us to enjoy the Art of Defense!

The School of Defense - We will offer short, introductory, lessons in Medieval Combat with an emphasis on the Longsword but to include other weapons as well.

On the Second weekend only we will also present: The Art of Defense - A little bit of history, a little bit of comedy, a whole lot of sword fighting. A show of Medieval Combat based on historical sources.
